XUV500 is one of the most successful Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) prepared by Mahindra. It has been popular largely by virtue of its puma-like design on the exterior- one which is waiting to pounce on its prey. Each and every aspect of the vehicle has been carefully designed to give it an overall muscular look, easily making it the best-looking SUV from Mahindra & Mahindra.

The XUV500 is equally impressive on the inside as well. It gets a state-of-the-art digital navigation system with LCD colour display on the dashboard. Climate control for the AC is also available, though we wish that controls on the dashboard appear a little less complicated, as it sometimes appears almost like a cockpit. As a driver you would take a bit of time to get used to it, after which things should not be as difficult.

In terms of acceleration, the XUV500 does accelerate fairly quickly, considering that it is a 2.4 tonner behemoth.

Interior: AC Climate control and the LCD display are both part of standard equipment on this vehicle. Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), along with dual airbags, are also available as options. Intelligent All Wheel Drive (AWD) along with Interactive Torque Management (ITM) makes sure that you are in control all the time. The ITM, called as the NexTrac automatically takes over vehicle control systems such as ABS, Engine Management System and Steering Angle Sensor.

Comfort on the rear seats is pretty good, providing a high amount of thigh support. The vehicle can seat 7-8 individuals comfortably and the rear row does have good leg room as compared to many others SUVs which are cramped at the back.

Exterior: On the outside, the XUV500 oozes ruggedness and style from every angle. As we have already mentioned earlier, this is easily the best-looking SUV from Mahindra. Staring at you from the front is its honeycomb-like grille, which gives the vehicle its ‘crouching tiger’ appearance.. Headlamps come with a row of LED lamps and have `Static Bending’ technology, which allow them to automatically illuminate the turn path along with the vehicle, enabling better visibility.

Engine: The latest mHawk engine in the XUV500 is the same one which is fitted in the Scorpio as well. It has a capacity of 2179cc and generates 140 bhp of power. The engine is a Direct Injection diesel powerplant with a Variable Geometry Turbo (VGT) Charger.
